I had about half a package of corn tortillas left over from my last recipe. I decided I would continue the Mexican theme and this time make similar yet less spicy chicken tacos. This recipe is tasty and really easy to make. It takes about 3 hours and has about four ingredients. Enjoy!
Chicken Tacos
Mexican Shredded Chicken (Spicy)
I love to try making a variety of foods when I can. I came up with this recipe for Shredded Mexican Chicken that can be used to make tacos, burritos, or any other combination of tortilla, beans, meat, and rice you can come up with. This recipe may be too spicy for some and can be made without the heat by leaving out the Chipotle Peppers. read more »
Chicken Rice Soup
Really simple and tasty chicken rice soup recipe I came up with to be cooked in the crockpot or slow cooker. Great for a family or individual who wants leftovers all week.

DiCAPac WP-S10 Review
At the end of 2009 I took a trip to Maui with my family. As I was just getting into photography I wanted to experiment as much as I could while I was there. This was not my first trip to Hawaii and each time I go I try to take a snorkel cruise. While snorkeling on the beach can be fine for most, taking a cruise gets you to remote reefs and away from the crowds. I wanted to be able to take underwater pictures but didn’t want to have to fork out the cash to buy a decent underwater camera. After doing extensive research I came across the WP-S10 by DiCAPac and decided it would be worth giving a shot. I wrote this post because I wish someone would have done so when I was looking for information a couple years ago. read more »
Site Design: Part 7 – Remaining Files
The remaining theme files are setup similar to the index file created earlier. A call to the header, the unique page content, then a call to the sidebar and footer. Setting up these files will basically complete the functionality of your WordPress site. Of course there is a lot more advanced features of WordPress but here are the basic files you’ll need to run a simple blog. Just like with the previous posts, when editing these files replace all instances of MyTheme with the name of your theme. read more »
Andrew Molera State Park
In mid October, 2011 I decided I wanted to get away for the weekend and do a little photography. I wanted to visit somewhere new and take some pictures I hadn’t before. A friend of mine was planning on going to Andrew Molera State Park for Saturday night and I decided to head up a couple days early. Before going I searched the web to find out any details that would help me pack for the trip. The State’s website was vague about anything besides the location and some regulations. I decided to write a post about my trip and add some details that might help others planning a trip to Andrew Molera State Park. read more »
Site Design: Part 6 – Zenphoto Integration
It’s finally time to build our Zenphoto theme. With the WordPress theme styled and basic pages working, we can now make the Zenphoto theme thus completing the basic integration. Just like with the WordPress files this post will go fast. I encourage you to research each section on your own if you want to know more. As a side not Zenphoto.org has a large forum with active developers answering forum posts. However from what I have seen most of the time the developers just refer all inquiries to consult their manual and guide. Their manual and guide is a little dry and I hope this part of the tutorial is easier to understand for the laity. read more »
Site Design: Part 5.4 – CSS File
Style.css
This is the tricky part. All the styling is done with the CSS file. For simplicity I have put everything into one file. A lot of people break their CSS down into different files for certain information. But for this tutorial I want to have everything in one place. This is a copy of my CSS file. Certain information has been taken out, but the majority of my site’s design is in it. I suggest using it to get your theme running then go through it and edit all the attributes as you wish. I should also mention that my CSS file is a hodgepodge of bits and pieces of different style sheets throughout the web and may be a bit messy. One important thing to note is that I merged the WordPress and Zenphoto CSS files into one. This is the first step in integrating the two CMS’s. read more »
Site Design: Part 5.3 – Functions and Loops
Functions and Loops
Again I want to acknowledge Ian Stewart for his work. I have taken his tutorial and built off of it. He goes into detail for each line of code. However I am trying to just explain the general theme design and how to integrate Zenphoto and WordPress. I will go very fast in this post. If you want to know more about each section of code, I encourage you to research more. WordPress has a large and healthy community of support online. read more »
Site Design: Part 5.2 – WordPress Files
Basic Files
Now that I have described the concept of the WordPress file structure it is time to make a few files to get the site started. We will first make the basic files to get a blog running. Keep in mind you will have to do lots of research to get the advanced features of your site working. The process of finalizing your site can be never-ending. I find myself always tweaking my CSS file and know that it will change almost daily. But if you weren’t up for that challenge then you wouldn’t have gotten this far in creating a custom theme. You would have already downloaded a theme template and had your site up and running. So for now let’s get our basic files created and the theme working so that we can get back to the overall mission of this tutorial of merging WordPress and Zenphoto. read more »
